Letter to our friends

Dear Friends and Supporters,

December 2023 marked the beginning of new hope for our community. After nine years
of quiet yet relentless effort, our work has finally been recognized. This recognition was
made possible by the unwavering support of our friends and partners, both near and far.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the individuals and organizations based in the
United States especially Foundations for Purposeful Living who believed in our mission
and walked this journey with us. We are especially thankful for our relationship with
Roland Frutig, an Agroforestry consultant from Switzerland, whose dedication has been
instrumental in our growth. Through his connections, we were finally noticed by the
Swiss Academy for Development and Mukundi, opening the door to new and exciting
opportunities for our community.
We also owe a tremendous thanks to poret.org, whose support has been invaluable to
our work. They generously provided Permaculture Design Course scholarships for our
students, empowering them with vital knowledge and skills. A special mention goes to
the Director of PORET, who has not only shared his expertise but has welcomed us into
his home and work with open arms, expecting nothing in return.
To all those who have contributed in cash, kind, or time—whether visiting our center or
working behind the scenes—your support is the foundation on which we continue to
build.

We are deeply grateful, and we know that with your continued assistance, we can
achieve even more.

However, our journey is far from over. The Girls Leading the Way Project in
collaboration with the Swiss Academy for Development and the Overcoming Barriers Project with Mukundi are just the beginning of what we aim to accomplish. We still
need resources and funds to bring these projects to life and make a lasting impact on
the lives of vulnerable girls, women, and our broader community.

Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are making a difference and creating a
brighter future for all.
With sincere gratitude and hope,

Evans Mangwende and
The Mangwende Orphan Care Trust Team
