As one of the MOCT team member became father,
Evans Mangwende, the founder of the Mangwende Orphan Care Trust,
offered an insight of his motivation and purpose to build an orphanage:
“Congratulations once again, my brother.
Becoming a father opens up a part of your heart that you never knew existed.
It’s a beautiful and humbling experience.
The love you begin to feel—so deep, so protective, so tender—it changes your view of life completely.
That same love is what led to the formation of Mangwende Orphan Care Trust.
I remember thinking:
“If I, as a father, can feel so much love for my own child, what happens to children who have no one?
Who gives them that warmth, that sense of belonging?”
I realised that orphans don’t just need food or clothes—they need love.
They need someone to hold them, to say “you matter,” to offer the warmth that only a family can give.
So, MOCT was born from that place in my heart.
From a deep longing to give that same love to children who would otherwise be discarded by society.
It’s not charity—it’s humanity.
I hope you’re bonding well with your little one.
