In the first week of the month, we started by managing the existing plants through weeding and heavily watering our plants in order to maximize produce in existing plantations.
From the second and third week we started harvesting sunflowers, maize and cowpea from one of the existing plots. We made about five, twenty litre buckets full of sunflower grains. The rest of crops such as cowpea and maize are still in the process of harvesting and drying, therefore we can’t yet determine the yield. We have continued the process of drying chillies and paprika for replication. We have made about 200g paprika seed and nearly 500g seed from chillies and and we recently just put it in a nursery bed.
From part of the third to this 4th week of February, we prepared part of the plot where we harvested other plants and we transplanted kale(rape) from the seed bed and so far about 186 new chillie plants from replication. We also started replicating vetiver grass from existing bunches, shallots and also added about 19 glaricidia and 50 moringa plants into the system. We are still harvesting maize and continuing with transplanting of kale and preparation of land for new crops.
